Please help identify part

This does NOT look right to me. After having the transfer case encoder motor and control module replaced (wouldn't go into 4WD) - I noticed this underneath the Tahoe. It's a 2007 4WD LTZ.

I have zero mechanical knowledge - so hoping someone can tell me 1. what this is and 2. does it look right.

Can you better specify where it is and better pics like full view maybe because I can't seem to figure it out without seeing the whole thing

It's part of the transmission where a boot is covering the connection. It looks like a crappy connection.

Here's a wider shot. This is looking underneath the truck from the middle of the drivers front door across to the middle of the passenger front door. The front of the truck is to the left.

That's the output shaft to the front differential. It just looks like they did a sloppy job of putting the boot and clamp back on. Or maybe they just knocked it loose when they were changing the motor.
