So it started a few months ago. Took it to my mechanic and he couldn't seem to find the source. I placed the phone centered on the engine bay, right above the grill. It's worse when its cold. It happens with the heat on and off. It only happens on start up. The only thing that has recently happened to the engine was the throttle body cleaned in the fall.

What the HECK is this noise (around 12 seconds in)?

What year make and model is it? Is it causing you any problems starting up, or driving?

Based on the little information I have, i would say either a dying starter or fuel pump.

Yes, make, model and engine? You took it to a "mechanic" and he could not narrow down where that noise is coming from? That's a loud noise.

My guess is a tensioner rattle or a/c compressor area. Unlpug the a/c compressor and see if noise is gone. Maybe domething with electric fans.

Something hanging loose from air snorkel removal for throttle body access?

2011 Yukon Denali XL 6.2L deleted. Fuel pump is brand new (AC Delco). Water pump/oil pump replaced 2 years ago when it was deleted.

I suspect it's the AC compressor as well since the cold air stops after around 20-25 min.

Either unplug compressor at the compressor itself or if there is a low pressure cycling at the accumulator, unplug it there.
Maybe even an A/C relay at the box under the hood.

Check your clutch fan/electric fan to make sure its not making contact with something. I had a piece of my fan shroud towards the lower half break and barely touch the fan blades on start up, once the fan built up enough rpm, the noise would stop from the air pushing the piece out of the way.

the compressor is mounted to the frame behind the driver side rear passenger wheel, upon startup it runs for a few seconds and shuts off.
completely normal unless your rear shocks are blown out

It's not that. I know what that sounds like. This is coming from the engine bay. So unless there's a compressor up there, that's not it.
