I need to have my seats operating in order to pass Maryland safety inspection to get this registered. Yes it sucks living behind enemy lines.

I just bought a 2003 GMC Yukon SLT and the driver's seat is all the way back but does not move forward. When operating the button in reverse, you feel the motor work and click as if the seat is at it's most rearward position. When operating it forward it does nothing, but you hear a very quiet click, probably coming from the memory seat module.

Upon many searches, many have stated I just needed a reprogram or flash of the memory seat module. The dealer did this for $101 and there is no change. They say I need a whole new seat frame riser at the cost of $1,400 for the part. There really is no way to just swap out a motor, based on how its designed, unless i am wrong. So I figure I can get a seat frame at the junkyard for cheap, right?

In order for me to remove my seat, I have to remove all for mounting bolts. The front ones are easy to access (But reverse Torx????) since the seat is stuck all the way back, the seat is blocking access to the rear bolts, WTF do I do now?

I don't know but Red-Raider made a similar post on Sep16th about his seat stuck all the way back and sounds like he got it out to replace some parts, might PM him. Other than that can you disassemble the seat with it installed? I've never take one apart but that is where I would look.

Thanks i was at the junkyard yesterday working on practicing taking one out. Im not sure its possible. I wish it was easy to just replace the front/rear direction motor...

This video shows how to replace the covers, but they also show how to remove the bottom cushion piece from the rail that slides. They have the luxury of the seat out but maybe you can do the same with the seat in. Once the bottom cushion is removed you could get a look on how to disconnect the motor in order to slide the seat manually.
Either that or get a sawsall and start cutting, assuming you have the JY seat for parts.

Thanks. I have already done this, but this is still helpful.

Update: No luck, I tried using another switch off a junkyard truck, same thing. The motor works, just in reverse. I even hooked up a replacement motor from the junkyard and did the same thing (activates in reverse and nothing forward-except for a click on the tiny relay in the memory seat module.)

I inspected the plugs to look for burnt ones, no luck they all look good. I will try and get a replacement module to see if that does anything.

I cant totally remove the seat all the way since there is a tricky airbag sensor plug that I cannot figure out. It has a blue piece of plastic that you remove first. I dont want to damage the SRS system.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the seat motor system?

Update. After having no luck looking for shorts in the connectors, I decided to isolate the forward/backward motor on its own switch wired (with fuse) to the battery. I used a DPDT (on/off/on) toggle switch from Radio Shack. Perfect.... For now. At least my wife can now drive the truck and I passed the stupid MD safety inspection. I'm still searching junkyards for replacement seat modules for a permanent fix.

I used this wiring, to reverse motor polarity for forward and reverse. Mounting wise I dilled a hole in the plastic side cover on the seat below the factory switches. Super easy!
