Police Tahoe Package-Anything special with the engine?

Hello folks,
I saw a couple of the local police Tahoes rolling on a call yesterday, and wondered if they had more than the standard 5.3 liter under the hood? I wouldn't mind having an extra 100 or so HP, so wondered if they did. Thanks for any info!

Nope ..
only 5.3 and maybe different ECM programming ...

Not even a high performance tune, they just set max speed higher and a few other minor changes like the a/c turns off at wot from what I've read.

How in the world do they catch up with anything above a Dodge Neon? My 5.3 pile can't hardly get out of its own way, except to suck gas at 14mpg. Sorta sucks after owning a Vette

put the pedal to the metal and hope they have a full tank of gas. remember the two way radio is the fastest.

I don't know but I'm putting a blower on my 6.0 in a few weeks.
