So i recently bought my tahoe 03 z71 134k. I recently started having some pops and clunks when i hit bumps. We have a lift at our office so we put it up on the lift and the front end suspension is practically brand new however the bump stop is laying on the metal when i believe it should have a gap so when you bottom out it hits the metal bracket to prevent it from bottoming out then the shocks are bad as well. Then we realized the front looks lower which may explain the bump stops hitting the bracket. Would cranking the torsion bars up fix this problem or should i just buy the leveling kit. My main goal is just to get rid of these front end noises its driving me nuts!

Bad shocks will cause clunking. Replace them first and go from there.

Ya sooo...theres quite a few roads to chase down with this "front end clunking/popping."

Pretty sure your bumps stops will rest on whatever that frame member is. Dont think thats a problem.

Popping noise can often originate from front frame rail cross-member. As the frame torques side to side the bolted in frame rail can shift causing a popping sound. Try nailing those things with an impact.

I've read either tighten them right up or remove them and get some larger fender washers for each bolt and each end of the bolt and also apply anti-sieze compound allowing them to move freely and quietly as they please.

I didnt use an impact on mine. I used a 24" long 1/2'' drive breaker bar with a 4' cheater pipe. Lying on my back I tried to get as much leverage as I could. I'm 99% sure that did the trick! I think it the popping noise disappeared for a while ( i got buzy and side tracked or something and either didnt listen for it or I DID infact fix it!) Anyways...I think its slowly coming back. I have full intention of tightening those bolts back up! grrrr.

As far a front shocks go... I thought you can just do the press and settle test or whatever you want to call it.

My front end popping noise was from worn out bushings on the upper control arms. Where the a-arm mounts to the frame, just replaced it and no more noise now.
