So on my fist long trip I went camping and on the freeway up there my dome lights flickered like crazy…after a few prayers and a priest I found a "dome override" button and that fixed it. Im just wonderering what that hell makes it flickers and on top of that why chevy seems to know about it enough to put on override button in the truck instead of fixing the flicker???

Or …did the priest just not do his job?

I'm pretty sure there's a dome override button so you can have your doors open for a long period of time and it won't slowly drain your battery. Not because of flickering lights lol. I dunno, could be wrong though.

Hehe.. it's not possessed.
My truck does this as well.
On my truck it's the top glass portion of the hatch. The top doesn't sit firmly on the bottom, and so it rattles. As it rattles, it just makes contact with the push button switch and thus causes the lights to flicker.

I've tried to use various weatherstriping foams, and it works for a while, but the foam eventually compresses and the rattles start again, and the light flickers again.

I've often thought about removing that push button switch, but it seemed like a PITA when I could just push in the dome override.

BTW, that dome override is not specific to our trucks.
My wife's GMC Jimmy has one, and so does my Sisters Pontiac Montanna.

^^^yup, the culprit for me once was the hatch was not shut all the way.
