First off, im new, and ive been creepin the site for a bit now. Just picked up a 99' 2 Door 4x4 Tahoe 5.7.
Ive searched, but i dont think i have found someone with my exact issue.
Got the truck and have put 300 or so miles on it, cold start oil pressure would read 40-45 idle, and 40-50 going down the road. 20-35 warm idle, 35-45 going down the road. Luckily for me, im not new to gm. I work and own a 02 Camaro SS, and i am aware of how you cant trust a crappy oil sending unit/ or stock gauge. But to the issue.
Driving home one day and the gauge reads 40psi going down the road, and all of a sudden it shoots all the way over where 140 would be.. Pull off turn it off. All seems fine, motor runs and sounds fine. Turn the key on power, and the gauge goes from ''140 area'' to 0. Crank it, it goes to 30, im like heck ya! Tap the gas, Shoots all the way back.. Now, of course i know the pressure reading isnt correct. Now after about 4 days of driving it, it will stay at that 140 ''area'' reading 99% of the time, and will go back down to 0 when first click power is turned on via lock cylinder. Do you guys think its a oil sending unit? Or my gauge cluster? And if you do think it is the oil sending unit, ive looked and it seems like there are alot of different options for this tahoe, could any one supply a BWD or Delco part #? Is there a way to reset it, maybe change my oil?
Sorry for the story, just trying to get it fixed bc i am ocd on gauges, lol
Thanks!!
