possible upgrading

thinking of doing and engine upgrade to either a 5.3l or maybe a 6.0l. would I need to change out my transmission and what else would I possibly need to do???? all info will realty appreciated.....

I have an '04 4.8L as well and from what I've gathered on here, you don't need much. Other than retaining your 4.8 flywheel, it's a direct bolt in assuming you stay close in years of the donor engine. There will be little things to change but that's to be expected. A tune will be required I think as well.

If you go stock LQ4/LQ9 I would have the transmission rebuilt at least. Beast sunshell, shift kit, z-pack clutches etc. I just had this done as I'm about to hit 150k on the odo and the 2/3 clutches were toast. I think with a very tame 6.0L it should hold up. Hopefully I'll get a chance to swap in a LQ9 within the next year.
