Power gain help.

I am new to all this FI engine stuff, I am use to the older motors where you can stroke, change cam, lifter etc. My wife has a 2007 Tahoe LT1, 4x4, 5.3L and I am looking to put a Volant exhaust and air intake on it. We use her Tahoe to tow our 23 ft wakeboard boat and I am looking for some added power and to try to get some better fuel milage. I am wondering what kind of power gain would I get from those bolt on mods?

I know I won't get a lot more power over stock untill I get a tune to tap into the added power. I am just looking for a rough number is all.

I also know you cannot get the same power from a gas tune that you can from a diesel tune. I was thinking about getting a Duramax next year but now I might get another Tahoe but not 100% sure.

I installed a K&N Air intake with an MBRP Performance Exhaust before my tune. The intake was listed with an increase of 17 HP at like 4000 RPM, and the exhaust was around 15-20 HP also at higher RPM. 32-37 horsepower seems like a lot, but you still won't feel much. I do notice when I get into the higher RPM range that my Tahoe has a little more pull, but for all around driving you won't feel much difference. I know you are buying Volant, but I am sure all of these companies set their products to see similar gains so it you should probably see similar numbers.

air intake will help some, but ever so slightly. I say a custom tune is in order doing that towing.

Really it all comes down to weight when you are towing a boat. I have a 03 Tahoe LT and i tow my 2007 24ft boston whaler. the boat and trailer weigh almost 8,000 lbs which is way to much. i would say if your towing no more then 5,000 lbs your good. You still have a nice load size with some comfort still left in the ride.

Its a Yamaha 23ft wakeboard boat and weights about 5,000 lbs with trailer dry. With gear and fuel it weights in around 6,000-6,500 lbs, and according to GM our Tahoe has a 7,300 lbs tow rating. So I am good on the weight there, I just would like a lil more power is all.

I am thinking about getting my own Tahoe or even a Yukon Denali but not 100% sure yet.
