Ok so while changing my rear shocks on our 07 Yukon I had to disconnect a harness for the rear wheel speed sensors. It was blocking access to the left upper shock bolt.

I forgot to plug it back in when I was finished and started the truck. I got warning lights and errors displayed on the DIC right away.

I knew right away what I had done, and fixed it. Plug is reconnected. The problem is that the system is still in fault mode with the warning lights on, and the message on the DIC every time I start the truck.

I disconnected the battery for about 10 min and then started the truck and the system did not reset. So I took it to my local shop to have them scan it and tell me what's wrong. They see the code set when I unhooked the rear sensors. It's no longer active.
But they are seeing an error that shows that the system has a communication problem.

How do I fix this?
Did I not leave the battery off long enough?

Thanks.

I usually unplug it for a half hour or more just to make sure it clears out. I've even left it overnight on a few occasions when I was working on other stuff that needed to be finished the following morning. 30 minutes should do the trick though.

Thanks for the info.

Today I took it to the auto parts store to see if they could help me and found that he local guy is a moron!
It has 2 codes stored in it, one for the left rear wheel speed sensor, and one for the right rear wheel speed sensor.
Now I know I plugged the left one back in. But I may have missed the right one.
So tomorrow I am going to get under it and see if it is still unplugged or if I did get it plugged back in.
The auto parts store guy said he cant clear the code for the right wheel sensor as it is active.

I hope its that easy to fix.

Problem found.

Right rear wheel speed sensor harness was not clipped in properly.

As soon as we fixed it, the system worked on the next start.

The plug for it is getting lose. So I may need to fix this again at some point.
When it gets nicer out I will get under it again and see if I can fix it so its tight light it should be.

traction, stability, abs lights on

Replaced rear shocks today and ended up with dash lights on. Read your write up and went back in and found an abs sensor wire completely off and the other partial engaged. plugged them back in and problem resolved. Thanks for the help, saved a bunch of time.
