First realized a noise (groaning) when it was in 4wheel drive, switched to 2 wheel and it stopped.

Later, turning out of a parking spot in reverse *CLUNK* *CLUNK* *CLUNK*

At a stop light, turns green. Car doesn't move a tad when my foot is off the brake.
Put my foot on the brake and a sudden jerk and moves fine.

Got home, later started car. Moved for 500 yards, then nothing.
Car stayed on and everything turned on, pressing on the gas just gave me a high idle in drive.

Turn car off, wait and back on.
Moves for a few hundred feet. No pull.

WHAT COULD THIS BE!!

Transmission/transfer case. Check fluids, change fluids & filter, look for burned fluids.

How many miles on the trucks?

My money is on transmission/transfer case issues.

Transfer case! Might be an actuator or something becoming haywire or something and letting your transfer case jump around between 2wd, 4wd and Neutral. I'd get it fixed ASAP, you don't want that crap switching while cruising around at high speeds. A friend had that problem on a Nissan Titan while at the dunes, ended up blowing up the pumpkin on his rear axle!!
