Hi guys, I'm having an issue and thought I'd ask to see if anyone here has an idea of what it is. I just got a 2002 Tahoe LT with the 5.3L engine and 65,000 miles on it. 2 weeks ago or so I was having a hard time starting the truck, battery was a year old (it was dad's truck before it was mine), and AutoZone replace free of charge. That seemed to work for a bit, but now I'm having the same issue. If I throw the charger on it for a little while I can get it to start, but would like to figure out what is wrong first so I can fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

This is probably not the most accurate diagnosis, but to me, it seems that something may be drawing your battery power down (while sitting). Or, maybe your alternator is not performing as well as it should (keeping your battery charged).
A quick way to circumvent power draw may be to use a Battery Quick-Disconnect. You can even get ones that wire to a switch inside your truck (i have one on a van and I do it manually on the battery, but it can get annoying).
Good luck, and I hope that it is an easy fix for you!

Just an update, I charged it for a few hours with no luck on getting the truck to start. Anyone have any ideas before I have it towed to the shop?

I hear the starter going but the truck won't turn over (no clicking sounds from the starter). I'm going to check the battery to starter cables today and see if they seem corroded at all (if so remove clean with a wire brush and reattach). Maybe even give the starter a little tap with a hammer as I know that has worked in the past with bad starters.

if you get it started, take it to local parts store. There they can run a test on the battery, alternator, and even starter.

So I figured out what is wrong with my Tahoe.... Gas gauge isn't exactly accurate. It read a little less than a quarter of a tank, well apparently that means bone dry in my truck. Just for the hell of it I added some gas I had in a gas tank in my garage and just like that problem solved. Boy do I feel like a moron.
