I have an '05 Yukon XL Denali and was looking to upgrade the current stock wheels and tires for a set of 20's with 305/55/20 Yokohama tires.

My qustion is which programmer do you guys recommend to recalibrate the speedo for the wheel/tire change. I'm not really looking for a performance tune, just want to recalibrate the speedo. I've got TPMS sensors for the new rims, so that won't be a concern.

Any recommendations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Wow...excellent question. I just use my GPS to figure out how fast I'm actually going and then add or subtract that from what the speedo says...lol.

Those tires are probably gonna rub unless you've got lift. Just FYI. I just picked up some 305/50/20's and they look huge. Haven't put them on yet, though, since they're going to be my summer tires.

I found a cheap superchips for this very reason. I think the part number is 2815 but not for sure, I haven't used it yet since I haven't bought my tires and wheels yet.

I use a Hypertech power programmer III just for that reason. I do use there shift firmness for the transmission and it's excelent. There 87 octane tune is not all that powerful and never tried their 91 octane tune. I bought mine cheap from craigslist. Just make sure it's unlocked or it will only work as a code reader.

So, how far off was your speedo? and if you don't mind my asking, what tire size did start with and end with? Just curious if I could go alittle while without reprogramming the speedo if the difference is slight.

From what I have found, the stock size tire is 265/70/17, which is 32" tall, while a 305/22/20 is 32.4" tall. The dia. of tire is 100.53(stock) to 101.7. Not that much is difference....i think.

IMHO, 1-2 MPH...if your speeding, they wont stop you for 1-2 MPH...so IMHO, not worth the money if all you need is a speed-o recalibrated. Now if you wanted it, and a tune, etc, then yes.
But 1-2 off isnt bad enough to invest, just my $.02
