Guys I bought a 2010 Navigation unit, installed it and got the theft lock screen. Took it to a guy who works for a chevy dealer and does programming on the side...i have had him program a few things on my truck before like folding mirrors, but today when he unlocked the nav for me and did whatever programming needed, when the truck starts up I get the chevy symbol and bose screen then it immediately turns off and shows the blue screen with the time. I can't turn it on or do anything with it for that matter.

So my question is did he not program this correctly and should I take it to a dealer that knows what he is doing or is this a bad navigation unit and I should contact they guy I bought it from?

Thanks for your help,
Ryan

Did he not test it before you left?

Take it back to him and ask him to do it again.

The guy I bought it from tested and says it works...he insist that it is a programming problem and says if I can't get it to work he has another unit to swap it out with.

The guy doing the programming says everything looks alright from his end and that he thinks the power button is broke...I'm just wondering if he missed a step or something when he was programming.

I want it to be a simple programming change but don't know how to tell which guy is right or knows what he is talking about

I feel like its still partially locked or something, if that's possible.

Well usually if it says theft lock and the unit powers on, the screen is good and it just needs to do a VIN re-learn with a Tech II programmer. I just did this on my Avalanche but the install shop that did it brought it to the dealer to program it. Dealership charged me $100 but it was well worth it. I say you get the dealer to re-program it again and see if that fixes it.

No prob. If you figure it out be sure to let us know. The shop that did mine actually drove my truck to the dealership and got it done after they did the install so I never saw the dealer do the VIN re-learn.

It's not magic. It's Murphy's Law. :party33:

As soon as I got to the dealership with a defective backup sensor problem, it started working. Got home, and it was broke again. Within the last day or so it is turning itself off and the backup sensor button is blinking on and off.

I'll get it fixed sooner or later.

Steve maybe you could make a video of it acting up so you can just show that to the GM tech at the dealership?
