I am about to purchase a 2006 Denali, fully loaded with 123k miles. I've seen a Carfax report on it along with running my own AutoCheck. It's a 1-owner vehicle and we feel it was well taken care of. However, I purchased a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer brand new and that turned out to be the biggest pile I have ever owned in my life. I think I have the jitters when it comes to GM vehicles now. I've been doing my research online and I don't see any major issues with this model or the 6.0 Vortec included. So, I figured I might as well settle in here on the forum as I did with my TB on trailvoy.com after so many issues.

Any other Denali owners out there with information on what I should be wary of or ask the dealer? I think one of the managers at the dealership owned this SUV and is now selling it.

I hope all of my future posts will be on a lighter note looking for cool mods, fuel efficiency ideas, electrical upgrades, etc. Take care everyone and thanks!

As long as the maintenance was kept up on it(front/rear differentials, transfer case, trans, oil and such) these motors are strong and run for along time. It is not uncommon to see these vehicles run well past 200K. Check to make sure there are no warning messages on the D.I.C.. Start the vehicle and listen for the autoride ride pump to kick on(located drivers side rear left corner). It should also only come on at startup or unless you load up the back or hook up a trailer. If it runs within 5-10 mins after startup again or in some other recent time frame you prolly have a leak in the system(torn rear shock most likely). There are aftermarket replacement solutions to keep or get rid of the autoride as well. The other common thing is the fuel pump going out-but that is a crapshoot on when that is going to happen....

Ive had my 06 for 3 years now....been pretty trouble free....put on almost 20K on it....just usual maint. and I did replace the rear air shocks and compressor though. Easy DIY if you are a little mechanically inclined...

BTW this forum is better than trailvoy too.....used to be on there-had an 04 Envoy SLT-had zero issues with it-just needed a bigger vehicle. Enjoy your stay!! I'm sure others may chime in with some ideas....
