So I went to put some LED's in my 2002 Yukon XL puddle lamps...

Both drivers and passenger lenses look the same from the outside...

Once I removed the drivers side lens it has a push in style bulb like this:

The passenger side lens came off and had a terminal and a sealed "Case" that I had to un-screw to get to a bulb that looked like this:

Is it normal for these mirrors to have 2 different styles?

I don't think the 194 is original. Looks like it may have been jerry rigged. They should both be the 42mm festoon type in the sealed case, as far as I know. I replaced mine with leds also.

The NNBS puddles are the regular 194 bulb ... those flat bulbs is what we have for interior lighting.

Like Jae :) said, looks like someone fudged it.

I thought the same thing.. but there are weirs things that make me think it was not rigged...

the lens has a push and twist style lock on it that matches the socket.

the lens has an area of metal which acts as a reflective area around the bulb

I don't see or feel any splices in the wires where someone would have had to add the socket..

Im stumped lol

Mmm ... I don't know enough about the NBS trucks to know if this is a valid theory but is it possible that the mirror may have come from a tahoe or an escalade and so they are bulbed differently. I'm thinking if that's possible and that is the case there would be no trace in the wiring as it would just be a plug and play harness.

thats a valid thought..

So next question is.. are those other platforms wired differently?

What the hell does that have to do with anything?

If this was my truck I wouldn't sleep for weeks trying to figure it out ... as it is I am in the corner rocking back and forth in the fetal position just thinking about it!!!

:insane:

Nah, it would be nice to solve this mystery though. :)

Yeah, if it was my truck I'd have the whole door apart trying to figure it out, now that I think about it.
