Alright, so always been a fan of the NBS Denali. Of course this obsession stopped when I returned to college at 26 and worked part time (now 35). Owned an efficient HHR, then upgraded to 2014 LTZ Impala, that was totalled and purchased a 2013 Passat SEL TDI...amazing legroom and all the fancy gear etc. Purchased it for $15k and then a month later vw sends me a buyback offer of $27k. So, it's a no brainer.

I text a buddy of mine who's wife has been after him about selling his restored '91 vert foxbody and he tells me he has his '01 Yukon back from his mom who only put 500 miles on it the 2 years she had it. Truck has 116k miles, new alternator, starter, water pump, radiators and sits down on 24" wheels with about 5k on the tires. He bought rim and tires from a mutual friends shop, so they have warranty too.of course all these "new parts" were installed before his mom took temporary ownership. It's a 2001 SLT, he converted it to Denali front end and esco running boards and roof rack ( I need to source one end cap, lmk) needs tie rods and as soon as I can find out how many grooves the pitman/idler have that's next.

He bought it in 2004 when we were co-workers, in 2006 under extended warranty the trans was replaced at about 70k.

Ran seafoam thru it today and ordered trans filter and gasket. I have 6 quarts of unused Dex6 from the impala. Probably needs some new lowered shocks, a good interior steam clean, and I've begun wetsand, compound, and was. Worst part is the tree sap damage from sitting at his moms and the body moulding glue that was left behind. Ordered plugs and wires too. I've only had her 36hrs but I work fast. Hoping to possibly order an HD hood and I've ordered morimoto 7.0 conversion as I retrofit everything I drive. He is a tint/alarm installer by trade so this truck is already hooked up. I figure $1k in fixes and upgrades and i will be fine, he also threw in some oem headrest screens and a custom 10" enclosure for the rear factory location.

I picked her up for $3500...and I'm stoked!

I also polished out the headlights and going to coat them with cquartz uk for a durable 2 year finish when the retrofit stuff arrives. Also ordered cheapy smoked projector fog lights as they were $22 open box with warranty on eBay. I'm not too worried about foreground performance after the retrofit, although I will probably fit those with hid as well.

@Fosscore thank you sir, getting that right now.

On another note, where di you source your hood? Used or remanufactured part?

Most guys are getting them at wrecking yards. But are not easy to find. You can still order from GM but you can't get the underhood mat anymore. And you can get it from any aftermarket body panel source. I myself prefer a good used one but haven't found one in two years.

That's my worry, availability...then fit. I know aftermarket is never a guarantee of fitment. This hood looks horrid from the tree sap. I will probably get the roof vinyl wrapped myself, depends how difficult it is. I am sure I can convince its previous owner to help out with that.

@quest51210

I scored my HD hood from the junk yard after searching for a local one for over a year.

Found them cross country, but too much to ship.

#1taho is correct that the heat shield is no longer manufactured.

The HD hood albeit an OEM hood and is a 6 bolt on swap out (notwithstanding your Denali special cut and fabrication to get it to fit around the headlights) has its own little fitment issues. At least for my truck.

It does not rub anywhere, fits perfect to the grille and lights, but there is a little larger gap on the fender seams which is annoying and is noted by other guys who have swapped it out,
but not enough to not have that mean look up front.

Went to the body shop to discuss options, but short of reaming holes and trying to tweak the fender bolts then worrying about the door to fender alignment, I have just rolled with it.

Only TYF and mod guys would notice, but again not changing it out as it makes the front end just work.

Sorry for long winded but always exciting talking about the HD especially on a GMC.

Good luck. Keep us posted.
