Hi everyone,

I've searched the forum, but haven't found anything that really pertains to my situation. I have an 06 Yukon Denali XL. Currently have a Pioneer 8100NEX head unit using the factory Bose lux amp and speakers. The 8100 is installed with a GMOS and Axxess ASWC. I'm planning on installing a 5 channel amp using the preouts on my 8100 and install new speakers in the doors, and add a sub.

Can I just cut the speaker lines that are currently tied into the GMOS and run new speaker wire from my new amp to my new speakers? Is there anything else I might ruin by doing this? Ideally I'd like to completely remove the Bose system, but is there anything that might not work anymore if I do that?

Also, my truck has buckets in the second row, anyone have any idea where I might be able to hide the amp? Doesn't seem to be much room under any of my seats.

Thanks in advance.

The NNBS trucks mount the amp under the front center console. The amp, especially yours I believe, is what makes all your warning and notification sounds work. There are workarounds but am ignorant on that account.

Sharing what I did and what happened in case anyone else thinks of doing what I did. I retained my GMOS-904 and ASWC, only connections I cut on the radio harness were for the front and rear speakers, and the blue trigger cable for the amp. I installed components in all four doors and ran brand new speaker cable to each door. All of the Bose speakers except for the factory sub and rear pillar speakers were removed.

The front door wires were fished through the factory grommet. For the rear doors, I drilled a hole through the factory molex connectors and fished the speaker cable through the factory grommet.

For the sub, I installed a compact Skar 10 inch downfiring sub in between my second row captain's chairs. It's small, hits hard, doesn't take up any space in my cargo area (something that was very important), and doesn't need to be removed if I fold my seats down flat to carry additional cargo. The box is robust enough to put stuff on top if need be and can also be stepped on if someone decides to take that route to the third bench.

I managed to squeeze my 5 channel amp underneath my second row driver's side captain's chair. Battery cable was pulled through a firewall grommet, routed through the channels on the door sills, and underneath the seam of the carpet in the middle of the truck.

I routed three sets of RCA cables through the passenger side door sills along with the amp trigger wire, all brought over to the amp on the driver's side using the convenient carpet seam along the second row.

I lost my door chime when you open the door and you leave the key in the ignition. I never used Onstar so that didn't matter to me from the start. I did retain RAP. RSE still works via wireless headphones if using the factory DVD player, but I usually use my head unit as the source and have a video RCA cable from my head unit up to the aux input of my RSE screen and use the speakers (my kids hate wearing the headphones).

The factory Bose lux amp is still in place, it's just no longer doing anything.
