The General already offers hybrid versions of its full-size SUVs, which are also joined by hybrid versions of its half-ton trucks for 2009, but the XFE models will continue to be powered by a flex-fuel version of the company's 5.3L gasser V8. It produces 320 hp/340lb-ft in the Tahoe and Yukon, and 315 hp/338 lb-ft in the Tahoe and Yukon. All are rear-wheel-drive only and mated to GM's 6L80 six-speed auto with a fuel-saving 3.08 ratio rear axle. In order to maximize fuel economy, all four of these new XFE models get low rolling resistance tires, aluminum wheels, an aluminum spare wheel, aluminum lower control arms and a lowered suspension with revised tuning. In addition, the Silverado and Sierra also get a new front lower air dam and soft tonneau cover that improve their aerodynamics.

What is xfe?

Part of GM’s new XFE (extra fuel economy) program that tweaks current models to improve fuel efficiency with no loss in usability, the Tahoe and Yukon XFE boast a modest improvement of 1 mpg on both the city and highway EPA cycles (15 and 21, respectively, versus the non-XFE numbers of 14 city/20 highway). The Tahoe and Yukon have the same 320-hp, 5.3-liter V-8 and six-speed automatic as the regular ’09 Tahoe and Yukon; the gains in efficiency come from improved aerodynamics, less weight, lower-rolling-resistance tires with higher tire pressures, and a taller final-drive ratio (3.08:1). Aerodynamic improvements come from a lowered suspension, and the decrease in curb weight comes from aluminum suspension pieces, standard aluminum wheels, and an aluminum wheel for the spare tire. The XFE package is expected to add only a few hundred dollars to sticker prices when it becomes available for 2009

wow old set up. thats the nitro shocks in rear and original front struts front. Those struts havent been made that color for a few years now.

You will need to cut your oem rear bumpstops

according to my dash i was getting 14mpg average. now i'm getting an average of 17mpg after a blackbear tune. totally changed the trucks drivability, highly recomended. more hp, more torque, more fuel economy, better overall feel. best $250 i've ever spent on my truck.
