I have recently bought a 1997 yukon to build up. I would like to get a new set of wheels and tires that still give me the "lifted" look until I do actually lift it. It currently have stock wheels and tires. I really like the new 17 inch rims on the new gmc line. I think the 285 size is probably the biggest tire that I can fit under current set up (at least until I can lift it). Need advise/opinions on what I should do...I can get a set of the new 17 inch wheels pretty cheap (and I really like the look) but i am not sure they will work on the stock 16 inch 1997 set up? Can I use spacers? Let me know what you think.

the wheels should fit fine w/o spacers. as for tires i would say a 265/70/17 to be on the safe side. 285/70 come in at about 32.7x11.5. the stock wheels will pinch those a bit too much IMO. 267/70 comes in at about 31.5x11. if the wheels were a bit deeper then the 285s would probably be fine

Thanks, this will eventually be lifted but I am wanting to get going on making the "look" now and these wheels look great.
