Sorry I have been searching for a couple days, but my internet is giving me fits.

I just picked up a set of 22" Liquidmetal Wingmans and Nitto 285/45/22 420s for my 2000 Yukon, I also ordered ball joints, inner & outer tie rods, pitman & idler arms.

Now I was going to order the Belltech 2-4 drop, but I know I will wish I would have gone lower if I only go 2-4, so now I'm looking into getting the McGaughys 3-5 drop but everywhere I look says that its only for 2wd.

Now am I better off getting a complete kit or should I piece one together? I was going to order NorcalSSs custom kit, but I have read some complaints about bumpsteer.

Also where is the best price for a McGaughys 3-5" or what do you guys suggest?

Thanks in advance and sorry if this has been gone over a bunch of times

And does the McGaughys kit come with sock extenders? Or do I just have to use really short shocks?

---------- Post added at 01:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:46 PM ----------

I have a set of 3/4 ton keys & ground force rear shocks that are 1" shorter than stock. I have considered getting drop spindles, Norcal's 5+ coils, DJM hardware kit, & shock extenders. I can probably piece a kit together a little cheaper than buying a complete kit. I would need new front shocks, but they need to be replaced anyway.

Any thoughts are welcome

If you can do it the djm front a arms with belltech sp shocks rides better than spindles with decranked keys. Also you get new bushings and balljoints with the djm kit. With a arms you will not lose turning radius also.

The belltech sp shocks front/rear ride best with the tb coils and front djm arms (this is why I no longer use the djm shocks on these kits0

In rear you need shorter rear shocks when doing the rear 5+ kit.

There are a few people running my 3/5+ kit and the rear rides really nice and you start with new shocks all around oh and also with my rear 5+ kit I include new bumpstops which are needed when you cut off the bracket off the frame and will not be metal on metal if bottoms out.

If you do end up going with spindles and keys in front I can set you up a kit with belltech sp shocks all around and my 5+ kit Member here goday has my 3/5+ same kit in his truck hasn't said anything about bumpsteer but I know for a fact with the djm shocks in front it makes the front end really jumpy and doesn't ride as well as the belltech sp shocks

If rear shocks are 20.5 extended you can use those but not sure about ride quality with the tb coils. Also with the djm hardware kit you will not need extenders.
Any other questions just hollar.

My truck is pretty low and love it. Handles like a dream. And tony will hook you up. He's the man when it comes to suspension on these trucks. I wouldn't go with the mcgaughys kit.. I would run spindles or lower a-arms up front and if you can wait, wait till February and get Tony's new 6" springs he's got coming out.. If you wanna be as low as possible.

I can vouch for Tony being the man. He helped me a lot on info and I didn't even buy a kit from him. I am running a used DJM 3/5 which I replaced bushings and balljoints. There is minimal bump steer that is hardly noticeable on my kit. It's not near as bad as some claim. Keep in mind I'm on used frog shocks and factory rears with extenders. I do not have the springs that Tony sells and it does ride a bit stiff out back. The truck is still as driveable as ever. The problem with 2/4 drops is they're hardly noticeable, to me anyway. Go 3/5+ if you're going to spend the money.

I got the 3-5.5 kit from tony and dont feel any bumpsteer at all
I have upfront the 3" arms and rear 5.5 springs with rear hardware kit plus helper bags
As for shocks I have belltechs all around I had djm shocks upfront but didn't like how they rode and now that I switched front with belltechs it makes a big difference on ride way smoother
If you want to lower your truck I recommend tonys 3-5.5 kit it rides great!
Or you can wait for the 6" springs he's coming out with soon
Plus if you need help with something he's always answering text or phone calls

Hi Jesse, I started with a 2/3 kit and pieced together my 4/5.5 drop and I would have saved money just buying one of Tony's kits. Anyway, I love my kit, spindles/keys up front and the 5.5" drop springs in the rear with Bilsteins all around. I have a set of McGaughy's spindles up front and I lost a bit of turning radius.

Well that would be an option, but I can't afford to spend $900+ on a drop kit. My Camaro takes priority on the funds department in the winter time. And I have a trans rebuild coming at the end of January and that's going to cost about $2k with the clutch setup.

I have a little over $550 saved for a drop and can spend a little more, but not $400 more. And since I just spent the money to get all the front end components I'd rather get spindles. If I don't like the kit I can always resell it and get something different when I have more funds available.

So my options are the McGaughys 3-5, the Belltech 2-4, or piece something together. I would rather not put the 22s on with stock ride height.

So back to my original question--Can I use a McGaughys 3-5 drop on my 4wd even though it says its only for 2wd? If not whats the 3-5 kit that I keep seeing.

If it were me I would wait until I had the money saved for the best components possible. I didn't lose any turning radius at all with my kit, just throwing that out there. Ive had DJM stuff on all of my lowered vehicles and will continue to use their products until I stop modifying vehicles or die (which will both happen at the same time).
