Quick Pitman arm question

When installing a new moog pitman arm should it seat all the way to the gear box.....mine has a finger space between the top of the arm and steering box, the nut is tight with a impact, but to to torque spec yet....wanted to make sure

It will not seat all the way to the gear box. The spline is slightly tapered and when tightened correctly it will stop moving at the correct depth.
