I have a 2001 Suburban. Rear audio controls are no longer needed and as far as I know, Chevy does not make a pocket for this year center console. Any ideas on what put there? Pics would be great. Thanks.

I'm considering trying to put a small screen there. I'm not sure what purpose it would serve, but I also don't know what else I would put in there, so, yeah!

From what I've read here in the forums, it only works in consoles 03-06.

sorry. I knew it fit in one of the NBS models, didn't remember which one...

here's what I am thinking. I want to put a carputer in the center console. I want to take out the rear audio controls and put a flat panel there. And in the flat panel I want to put a USB port that will connect to the carputer. Heres the sticker. I want to hide it in the cigarette lighter. Instead of charging, use it as a data port for USB device. Any suggestions on how to make this happen.

So you want to hide a female USB plug in the area where the cigarette lighter is? i.e. Lift up the cover of the rear cigarette lighter and reveal a USB port where you could plug an iPhone into?

What about an inverter?

Find a small one that has the switch, the 110VAC outlet receptacles, the fan, and the fuse all facing one side, with the 12VDC input on the other. The input side can be inside the console, directly connected to your power and ground.

In fact, the fuse and the fan can be on the inside of the console as well, because there is enough wasted space under there for sufficient airflow.

So really, all you need on the front face (to replace the face of your old RSA control head) is the 110VAC outlet plugs and a switch... and perhaps a couple of LED indicator lights.
