Rear Back Up Camera Service Light

For the last year to two years I've been getting the "Service Rear Camera" blue screen intermittently. It seems like it might be weather related because it tends to happen more in the winter than in the summer. Usually when I get the message and blue screen, it lasts for a few days then it goes away and the rear camera is back up and working so I've just dealt with it. Lately though it's been out for weeks at a time. I checked the fuses and they are good. It does seem to happen more times when it rains and sometimes it will clear when I open and shut the back hatch. Has anyone experience the same thing or have an idea of what it is. I really didn't want to pull apart the rear paneling to get to the camera but I have a feeling that's going to be my next step. This is on a 2016 Yukon Denali XL.
