My rear defrost wire broke off. Can this be attached back with some glue or JB and function or does the stealership need to get involved?

U need to solder it back on. It will eventually break again. Search the forum. Lots of good suggestions on here. Guys have tried lots of different types of solder

Tried 2 of these kits and still connector popped back off after a couple days.

I put a new piece of back glass on.

If you go the kit route, u need to use the paint to paint around and onto the tab to get a connection.

Any route u choose, solder, kit or new glass, stretch ur wires out a bit so they won't "pull" on the tabs so much when u open tailgate.

I had trouble with my first application of the stuff too.
I learned that right after you wipe both surfaces with the alcohol swab, apply the glue, apply the tab and hold pressure against it for a good 2 minutes. let it dry overnight without the wires connected. As you said, stretch out the wire some to relieve some of the tension on the tab and connect.

My second attempt holds still 9 months later.

I'm going to #^$@!? blow a gasket!!!!

Put a new piece of back glass on a month ago because I couldn't get the pass side tab reglued to glass. This morning on the new glass the driver side tab broke off!!!!!!!!

I could get a new piece of glass from Safelite and install it again under warranty, but why bother, I bet the tabs will just pop off again. I stretched the cords out and it still popped off and I didn't open the glass or back.

This is stupid. I hope the new 2015s don't have this design. I never had this issue with my 2 NBS Tahoes.

Still thinking on this, i used the defroster yesterday. Is it possible it is getting too hot and melting the solder.
