This may be due to the shock issue in my previous post but wanted to give its own identity.

This only happens at one particular intersection. I come up to the stop sign and the pavement slopes downward. As I am turning right onto the level pavement from the sloped pavement the rear end seams to shift and clunk. I don't notice the truck dog tracking down the road when driving behind it in my other car. Anyone experience this? Wish I had access to a go pro camera but I don't.

If I go at it slow in the turn, nothing happens. If I drive normal or swiftly around the corner then clunk and shift.

Okay, slight update here!

I was driving behind the wife today and noticed more than usual side to side motion on the rear of the Tahoe. Would this be caused by worn Sway bar bushings and/or links? I planned on replacing these anyway, but should I be focusing on another part that would cause this side to side?

Also what links are you guys using? Moog? Wish I could get the Energy Suspension parts.

if your making a right turn and clunks sounds like the gov lock diff is locking up. does it have a posi or one legger rear end?

How do I find this out? RPO code?

But wouldn't it do it all the time? In only does it at this one intersection where a downward slop meets a level road. When turning right, and the rear suspension is extending and contracting.

Look at the RPO sheet, I think it's in the glovebox. Look for code G80, that will tell you if you have the locking differential. I'm doubting that is the problem though since it only does it when the suspension extends and compresses.

On my old Escalade I had a little bit of a rear end shimmy under those type of conditions as well. I replaced the upper and lower control arms in the back and it didn't help, although the lower arm bushings were pretty cracked up. Those are pretty cheap on ebay and amazon so I like to replace them.

The thing that cured it for me was replacing the panhard/track bar that runs parallel to the axle. It bolts to the axle on the driver side and frame on the passenger side. That's what moves as your your axle extends or compresses on one side. The bushings in the stock one were cracked pretty badly and it doesn't look like it is really made to last. I replaced mine at 90K miles. They're cheap on gmpartdirect. In fact I'm replacing the one on my 07 with 73K miles today. It ran me about $55 shipped from GPD. Should only take about 30 minutes to replace, 2 bolts under the rear and moving the e-brake retainer over from the old one.

G80

I looked, and the RPO code G80 is on the build sticker in the glove box. I will inspect the panhard trackbar this evening. Thank you, all very good information.
