I don't know much about vehicles and I suppose that's what brings me here. I own a 96 2 door Yukon. I'm currently having a problem with my rear passenger side wheel. while in drive, I have no problem. If I'm in reverse there is no problem until I turn the wheel then the rear passenger tire locks up.

I have had the pads and all of the springs in the drum checked. I also looked into the parking break. None of these seem to be the problem.

Does anyone have any clue as to what the solution to my problem could be?

Thank you.

Have somebody inspect the gears in the differential. Sounds like some broken spider gears. If you are lucky it will just be a limited slip diff that needs its fluid changed.

If the spider gears are shot do you have a general price range of what that would cost to get repaired? Also, is there an upgrade in gears that I could look into for better performance?

The factory lsd does not use modified fluid that would require a fluid change to fix. Don't just look at the brake springs. Look for contaminated linings, mis-adjusted adjusters, broken hold-downs and such. You can also have a gear problem as well but when you open the rear diffy cover it should become very apparent if there is a gear issue. As for performance you can change ratios for better performance and launching but the more you go that way the farther away from mileage you go.

Thank you. I will bring this to the attention of my mechanic. Is it possible for these possibilities to be worn and not broke, making them less noticeable? Also, are the noted possibilities in the drum as well? Like I said before, I don't know much about vehicles so I would just like to know what area the problem could be coming from?

This vehicle has turned me into a typical driver of any vehicle to a lover of the Yukon. I could easily see myself owning a Yukon til the day I die. I would hate to see myself have to get rid of the beauty over such a silly problem. I got one hell of a deal for this ride and would love to keep it.

Look the truck is great it just need few upgrades to introduce it to the modern world other than that it is great,

I have a good number of silly problems but at the end of the day that moment when you're driving back to home and some fool cut your lane all what you do is to let you truck free to act natural and end his day or maybe car too (armoring my tahoe now a days)

I may be facing a similar problem but I couldn't find the Gasket for the deffy cover in the local market so I have to order one fron the state before I do any work on it.

I actually just posted another thread stating once I get my issue figured out I plan on throwing about 2500 dollars into upgrades onto the beast. That's why I want to figure this problem out so badly. I can't wait to get started on the fun stuff.

If the spider gears are stripped, it shouldn't cost more than $400 for a shop to replace them.

Uh, if your spider gears are stripped you likely won't even make it to a shop and you will need more then just spider gears because your side gears would have been damaged in the process.
