Rear Hatch Issues

-Glass won't open
-Whole door opens, but does not lock
-Door does not click when I close it, it is more of a thud, almost like the mechanism is not working at all, but I can push on the door from the inside and it will not open.
-Defroster wiring is broken off

Could all this be caused by the defroster wiring being broken?

No this is not all caused by your defroster wiring. Sounds like you have some internal mechanisms that are either in a bind or broken... I have never had one apart, but hopefully someone will chime in that has and has a solution to fix

When you close the hatch do you here a click or is it more of a thud. I'm used to hearing the latching mechanism on my cars, but even the four main doors I really don't hear it.
