Been putting this fix off for awhile now and finally got off my ass and pulled this switch out. Thought I would take it apart see if it could have been an easy fix or if I should just order a new one and found that one of if not both of the leads were corroded. One of them as you can see in the pic came off completely and the green color is the wire basically eaten away over time. Instead of buying the gun and sod to fix this I spent $15 and just ordered a new one. Part should be in then next couple days and I will finally have my hatch back to working normal.

Are you near the ocean or is it humid near you? Just curious as to what would cause that.

This truck has been in Alaska for a good 2-3 years now, I'm guessing that the weather change from when it was in Texas to now Alaska might have done some extra wear and tear on the weatherproof stuff on this truck. This isn't the first issue I have had with this truck in regards to the elements and my weatherproofing. Iv had 3 leaks that have had to be fixed as well.

I think my issue was the extreme cold up here gets to the rubber garments and adhesives that hold these things together. This specific issue looked like the glue that held the wires in place that then led to circuit board (or w/e you call it) ended up getting brittle and lost its seal and let moisture in. That then led to the corrosion of the wire into the circuit board. That's what I think the green coloration is. When I took this button apart the one wire was not connected at all.

I got the part in today and worked out great, thankful to have a working hatch again. The little things we take for granted.
