Have any of you seen a message on the DIC saying "Rear parking assist blocked - See owner's manual"?

My dad's 2010 Sierra has been doing this since day 1 and he hasn't taken it by the dealer yet, dunno why, but I was wondering if there was something we could to do fix it and save a trip. There isn't anything blocking them from what we can see.

If you leave your trailer wiring plug in it will disable the sensors. They might disable if you leave your hitch in too. Just a thought.

Same Rear park assist blocked problem-Avalanche

I am having the same problem with my 2010 Avalanche. Started last week. Manual is useless in giving any suggestions. My trailer plugs are not in so that isn't the problem. Hope someone provides a solution, I have to drive 100 miles to nearest dealer!

Try parking your car with your rear sensors within the distance of a wall so they would go off. Get a microfiber and rub the sensors clean. If they don't work, then there definitely is a problem. Call your dealer and make sure they have a loaner car ready for you. If not, ask for an overnight test drive ;)

Good call LTZboy! I actually had the same issue today w/ the park assist and was wondering what was causing it...... I put my extended 3 ball hitch on yesterday for the first time since I bought the truck!

Had this come on this past winter when we had some crazy snow here. Seems to me that the rear sensor was snow/ice covered when it occurred. Sounds like there may be something covering the sensor -- or, the sensor is faulty.

I would take it in and have them check the sensors if they are clean sounds like one might be bad. I haven't had this problem but everytime we put the tahoe in reverse it beeps once with nothing around. Is this normal? It's no big deal to us but just curious.

Yeah, both my Tahoe and my mom's Escalade beep once as soon as you shift in reverse. I guess it's to let you know the system is active.

I ever met this kind of situation, the parking sensor kit assist turns off when you have a trailer attached and flashes though messages. What your truck is doing is normal. Mine does the same, my dealer ever warned me about it when I bought it.
