Hi, I'm a newb to this forum and I've already seen so much cool stuff on here. I have a late model 2000 tahoe and the rear view temp and compass display isn't working correctly. When it does work the compass always reads SW and other times all the letters and #s light up and stay lit. Can anybody help me with this problem.:help:

Try resetting it. Your owners manual should say how to reset it. While you are resetting it make sure it is set to the correct zone that you are in.

The compass in my '03 Tahoe was acting similar a few months ago so I tried resetting it before spending the money to replace it. Resetting it fixed it. I don't really know how it got that was but like I said, resetting it fixed it.

Go to a Dealership. Tell them your rearview mirror temperature guage is out. Cost maybe 25 bucks. It installs in front of your grille underneath the Chevy/GMC emblem. Its a little switch that you have to unplug and plug a new one in. Should only take about 5 mins.

Thanks Will. Would you happen to know what it's called. I would like to order one and install it myself.

I cant remember, just go to the dealership parts center. Tell them year, model, etc, and tell them you want a rearview temperature sensor. They should know what you are talking about. It was a easy fix, I did it in the parking lot of the dealership. Just look eye level with the grill and you should be able to see the switch. Its an easy clip on clip off, and it took me like I said less than five mins. Plus a cheap fix, 25 bucks? Hope this helps.
