The push button on the back hatch for the rear window has failed on my 07 Yukon XL. It's been harder and harder to operate for the past few months and has finally quit. i haven't looked at it yet, but does anyone know if it's accessed from the exterior or interior?

Rear Window switch

The rear window switch is accessed through the exterior, but you have to take the trim off your rear door and be careful with the trim fastners when you pop your trim off or else you will be buying some. The two fastners that are hard to get out are the ones where the rear window latches to the door. They are two flat fastners. When you pop your window open, they are right there. There is also one cable harness you need to look for when the removing the rear door trim.

Once the rear door interior hatch trim is removed, you will see the guts of the rear door. Locate approximate the four nuts that hold the license plate lights, the rear window switch and the rear emblem trim cover. Once you remove those, the rear door cover trim comes off exposing your rear window switch, the license plate light housing, etc. If you can not get to the middle right bolt, then you might have to take off the rear window wiper motor to access it.

You can pry out your switch, but the problem is the wiring is tie wrapped in two places inside the cover trim and you can not get it out.

Great. Sounds a lot more "fun" than the front turn signal bulb I just had to replace. Thanks for the instructions. Can't say I'm looking forward to it!

Aftermarket part?

Anybody know where (besides a Chevy dealer) to buy a replacement switch for this problem?
