So, that sums it up. My rear wiper is DOA. The motor makes a slight noise, but nothing happens. It's been gradually getting slower and slower to wipe for the last month or so, so I'm not shocked.

Question is, where do I go from here? Can I just get a new motor and install it myself on the cheap, or is it something I should let a pro handle? Either way, I'll probably get it fixed with tax money, I'm just trying to make my list 'cause it's not the only thing needing work.

I would think replacing the motor wouldn't be too hard.

I wouldn't think it would be either, but some seemingly simple things on these trucks are ridiculously complicated....lol.

I did find wiper motors on ebay for $30-40, so that beats the $214 or whatever OEM price.

I know you are in AK, so it might not be an option for you, but your denali is clean, this maybe an opportunity to shave it..

Yeah, problem is we actually need it on a regular basis...lol.

All the water and snow and dirt from the roads just gathers there. Plus, my wife would shoot me if I did that just for looks. She's more into functionality.

So, here's a curious update.

I was sitting in the truck while my wife ran in and did a quick errand. Being bored, I hit the rear wiper switch, and it worked just fine. WTF.

I'm thinking the motor may have had moisture built up in it that froze...it was about -15 when it died...but then the temp swung and went up 45 degrees in a day. Still slightly below freezing, but with the heat on in the truck it would be enough to thaw the motor. Just my theory, anyway. I'm happy, whatever the case, because that's one less thing to fix.

I need the little bumper that it rests on (on my 2001 Z71)
I live on a dirt road and that bumpers gone so sometimes it just flops around and looks terrible...
Guess i'll hit up a junkyard sometime soon.
