Rear wiper only works when slamming hatch

If I use the button to close the rear door, the rear wiper does not work. But if I slam the rear door it will work. Also if I manually close the latch all the way, the wiper works. So is there a way to by pass the latch safety so the wiper will work?

Anyone?? Must be a way to by pass the latch to make the wiper work all the time!

You might check your fuses first. Not sure what you’re driving but sometimes my switch to open/close the hatch sticks and wiper won’t work. My 07 Denali needed a new camera so I saw all of the wires. I’m afraid if you terminate it you’ll get a DIC light saying hatch open. Good luck

Open rear hatch, check out the bundle of wires that exit the body and track into the hatch. The wire insulation rubs off and does wonderful things to interrupt rear cameras, hatch poppers and anything else on the hatch. Mine was purchased with black electrical tape wrapped around the bundle where it exits the body.

Sorry been on vacation so just now seen theses. 2007 Tahoe LTZ. Fuse good and everything works except wiper unless I slam rear hatch.

No one has run into this?? I think it must be the rea latch and was hoping someone hax a fix that did not include replacing it.
