Has anyone reattached the factory side molding? I want to remove mine but if I don't like it I want to reinstall. What size tape did you use? I did a rough photoshop to see the outcome.

Next free weekend I'm going to remove it, if I wouldn't like it I'm going to go with the 2015 style since its smaller. I have issues with the current moldings holding water and drip marks building up on the paint from the hard water around here.

3M tape. Make sure you clean off the old tape well (from the molding). We use razor blades and carefully skim it off. Use adhesion promoter as well.

I had one end coming up, I put it back on w/ a little epoxy over the old tape (not on the paint) and it's holding for now, been through car wash twice and it's still holding. I was considering taking them off.

What's the best way to get the old tape off. Heat gun? Gotta be careful w/ those, don't want to bubble the paint.

No heat gun. Either elbow grease and some goo gone or adhesive remover, or a 3m eraser wheel. You may need to buff the doors afterwords.

I've used goo gone for small things before, but never that much tape. It worked but didn't seem to really get all the old gunk off with out a LOT of work.

3M adhesive remover. We use it daily.

Im going to try the fishing line and 3m wheel.

I took the molding off my Silverado the hard way years ago by pulling one end slowly, then used the old tape against the remaining tape on the door. Then got the detailer and wax. It was a lot of work and about 3 hours.

The wheel is excellent and saves a lot of time. Just dont stay in one spot too long or youll burn thru the clear / paint.
