On the way home today after work and running a few errands, my 05 Tahoe shuttered at a drive-thru and tells me it's reduced engine power and disabled the stability system. Crawled out of the drive-thru since the accelerator wouldn't do anything, called the dealership service department, turned the truck off and on, and worked fine. Scheduled an appointment on Wednesday and drove home. Did a search on it and seems like it could be many things. Hopefully not too costly. Got almost 80k miles on it and just recently had an overhaul with new shocks, transmission and transfer case fluid change. Wish me luck please!

doese your truck have power adjustable pedals? That's the issue with my escalade. turns out the accelerator pedal position sensor (for power pedals) is a dealer-only item to the tune of about $300 if i remember right. Regular app sensor i think is around $50. maybe not your set up or problem, but that is the cause of mine.

Yes it does have power adjusted pedals. So in your case the faulty sensor triggered the engine to go into reduced power mode?
