Removing Chrome Bezel on Grille on 08 for Paint

I'd like to black out my wife's front grille and ditch the chrome. Does anyone know how hard and even better a how-to remove the chrome innards of the grille so they can be painted?

There are a series of clips behind the grille. There are quite a few of them that line the whole inner side. It is actually a pain to unhook them all off without breaking some. Just open the hood and look down, you should see them.
