Has anyone heated their headlights to remove the front lens? I have seen a few Duramax trucks that did the same. That way you can paint the chrome (color match). I just want to know how hard it is to do? I have heard of this being done and using silicone to seal the light back up.

Overall its a pretty easy process...take off your headlights remove the bulbs...pop ur lights into a oven at 200 degrees for 10 min....pull them out start prying them open carfully...repeat as many times as needed till they are off. once they are off u can remove those ugly orange reflectors, paint them etc. The reason many of us dont do this mod is because although silicone should work fine, their are many cases that it doesnt. Your headlights start to condense....and then a 25$ mod becomes a 500$ headlight replacemenet.

Watch this video...it shows how to add halo eyes which isnt wat ur looking for but it goes into tdetail about opening headlight and painting.
