Replacement of bottom end parts

I'm looking for some advice as well as some help. I'm planning on replacing my rear main seal and while I'm in there thinking of replacing most everything on the bottom up to and including the timing chain. I've been searching for days, trying to find a descent drawing or diagram of this area of the motor, to no avail. Does anyone know where I can find one so I can at least know what I'm getting into before I start tearing it apart and then trying to find the parts ? It's my only transportation and I'm thinking having all the parts ahead of time might speed the process up and not have her down too long. Thanks in advance for any help and or suggestions. You all have been very helpful in educating me in all things Chevy.:worthy:

It has 230K on it and the rear main seal has a slight leak. No noticeable smoke. I don't have a great deal of money, just thought while I'm in there replacing the rear seal, might as well replace the front one too and any stuff that might be worn. (preventative maintenance so to speak) I'm not sure what I'll find once I get into it, so a diagram or drawing would help me at least see the parts I might need.

About the only thing on the bottom end you can replace without actually pulling the engine out is the oil pump. You can't just grab new bearings and toss them in there without verifying measurements and what not.

I don't have a diagram, I'm sure sunlit will come along with one of his pirated pictures for you though ...

I know you probably don't want to hear this...

With 230K on the clock you probably have a significant amount of blow-by (worn cylinders/pistons/rings) which is probably blowing oil out your rear seal. Replacing the seal is trying to fix the symptom, not the problem (worn out engine). More than likely the new seal will start dumping oil again.

You're at a point where you probably need an entire engine overhaul. Anything short is a waste of money.

For now, then, I'll continue to keep an eye on the dip stick. The leak isn't real bad, then maybe save my pennies for a new motor somewhere down the road.

Thanks. My VIN shows 3 options : K10516 ( Blazer 1/2 ton ) L05 (5.7 liter TBI) M30 ( Automatic Transmission ) Silvarado Sport. I'm not sure where to go from here. Maybe go back to the exhaust and wheel projects for now.

you can use it to find part drawing and numbers for parts you may need. the option just state the configuration of the vehicle. 2 door, 5.7l tbi with a 4l60e tranny. www.compnine.com will give you a complete build sheet of your vehicle. Not sure tho what you mean by saying not sure where to go tho.
