Hi all,

I have an 04 Yukon Denali and the OEM nav system has been stolen twice, and since these thefts are a huge problem in my area (Austin TX), I am going to put a simple OEM radio.

When they snatched the system the last time, they snapped the plastic bracket that holds the radio. I ended up buying a 2002 bracket and radio before I realized the harness that plugs into the radio is different. This is where I need help and was hoping someone could give me some options. As far as I know, I need to either buy a 2002 harness or go to a junk yard. Something like these?

Are there any risks in going from a nav system wiring to a basic radio? I imagine I would have to do some splicing. Will it even work? Do I need to reprogram it?

Finally, the only harness/wires that exist right now are the ones pictured below. Does that mean I am missing a piece that plugs into the back of the 02 radio as pictured below?

Thank you! James

That radio will not work no matter what you do. You have to get an 03+ radio from either an Escalade, Denali, Sierra Denali or Hummer H2. You will also have to get it programmed to your VIN.

I don't think either of those will work. You need the one with a single CD and tape player. I believe those are what came stock. They are programmed to work specifically with your Bose amplifier. Your Bose amp was not available in regular yukons or tahoes, suburbans etc.

You need a radio programmed for rpo code Y91.

You can keep Bose and steering wheel controls wuth the right harness but lose RSE. The harness and steering wheels controller will run about $140 total.
