I've been having this same issue in my 6.0 hybrid motor. I think it's related to the PCV valve issue as well. I just put on a new valve cover that is supposedly redesigned and so far so good. I had the dreaded white smoke upon a cold startup occasionally as well. Last few oil changes they said it was really low. I keep an eye on the level every time I fill up now.

It ended up only being just over a quart low. I haven't had any unusual smoke or any other symptoms. Just gonna keep my eye on it.

This oil consumption issue is a well known problem with the GMT900 platform. If you bring it up to your dealer, they will do a test on your car and make you bring it in every 1000 miles and check your oil. My dealer had me bring in this sheet to them everytime I came in, but unfortunately I was too lazy to bring it in every 1000 miles and never finished up the testing, then moved 1200 miles away. But there are a lot of people who have done this same test and the dealer has indeed fixed the issue. I do know for a fact mine is constantly saying it's low on oil and it is an issue though...

A lot of my friends have NNBS silverados and they have the same issues , The test that GM does is called the Oil Consumption Test , and while every engine is supposed to consume a set amount of oil every 1000 miles there are limits . if your tests exceed these limits the dealership is supposed to fix the issue if it is a known recall . However to my knowledge GM never sent a recall out . but they will repair it if it has a warranty

Oil consumption tests are common in Factory Forced induction vehicles while its under warranty. My chevy cruz consumes about a quart every change 7500 miles
