Rim Question???????

I am looking at a set of Moto Metal 16X9 Rims.For my 05 Yukon XL..with 4.5 back space..But my question is they say -12mm. What does that mean?

Ok, but what way? So -12mm would mean that the rim is offset 12mm to the inside?
