Hey guys,

My truck is starting to get the typical rocker panel rust on the pass side just in front of the rear wheel. I understand these rocker panels usually rust from the inside out but what is the best way to tell if that is actually the case? There are a couple small paint bubbles forming with small crack in the paint on top of each so I am not 100% sure which direction they are rusting from? Every other inch of the rocker on the pass side and the entire driver side is rust free so I think It might just be surface rust coming through but I would rather not attempt a repair until I know for sure. If they are in fact rusting from the inside out, is there anything I can do to slow it down?

If not have any of you guys ever just covered the rust up by spray the whole rocker with truck bed liner or something of that nature as a temporary cover up? If it is from the inside I will just let it get worse and eventually have them replaced.

Any help is appreciated.

Go to your local auto paint store and buy a spray called Ospho it is an acid so dont breath take as much off so you can get to the inside of the rocker and spray heavy let dry and spray once more. Then get you some -- POR-15 Black Rust Paint -- it is called POR- 15 and get it in there the best way possible until it runs it also seals small hole that salt from the Iowa snow patrol lays down on the roads but be sure to tape off areas you don't want the paint
