That seems a little sexist....

...and I love that:happy160:

Also curious as to why get textured plastic and not smooth to match the factory look?

It's textured on one side and smooth on the other. I'm going to to be using the smooth side...my plan is to install a carbon fiber wrap onto the smooth side along with all the other trim pieces in the truck. All i have to do is figure out how to custom fit the abs plastic into place using a dremel and heat gun

wondering where you are planning on putting the gauges? I got all my stuff cut and in place. I am waiting on switches and gauges the show then I will have my stuff installed. I'm putting my switches in the cubby in dash and the cubby in center console I am going to install 2 or 3 gauges. 20170113_105325.jpg
I got some black silicon I am going for to put around the abs and bezel on the bottom. still have the clean up my over spray glue and finish but wanted it back in until everything shows up.

in my experience getting the smooth abs without scratches is very hard and not scratching it while handling it is just as hard. I put a double din in my zr2 and tried and tried to make the custom dash panels out of smooth abs and ended up driving my self nuts with it.

You my friend have done exactly what I'm planning to do...great job brother! I may do a little bit more cutting and trimming however after installing the new double din radio.

I'm still contemplating wether or not to relocate the climate controls closer to the bottom by the cup holders to free up some room under the new radio. IMHO the new rocker switches, 52mm gauges, along with my siren and emergency light switches(I'm on call 24/7) would look much better in that location...i most likely won't get around to doing any of this until spring time when i get some time off for furlough

I'm also installing an 8 way terminal block along with an 100 amp distribution block in the front and rear of the truck for future accessories behind the trim out of sight

I am doing a Kenwood ddx393 double din when taxes come in. I want something clean and sleek. the most I will have is led pods in the grill and maybe maybe a led bar so the 2 in the cubby is perfect. a couple gauges I will be set. I am also taking one of the cig lighters out for my aux/USB in for the ddx393. also cutting the back out for the cubby ducked! all I have is a jig saw and band saw, but I will be getting a drimmel in the near future(tomorrow)

Don't expect much from the hidden antenna modual, mine does not work very well at all.

I was getting ready to brave the cold and install the hidden antenna this morning since i have zero reception on the stock radio right now...i also bought an oem ac delco antenna base after watching a youtube video that supposedly fixes bad reception rather than tearing the dash apart

Amazon.com: ACDelco 15829166 GM Original Equipment Radio Antenna Base Assembly: Automotive

maybe i'll try both and let you guys know which works best

Update: I cut up the lower portion of the dash with my dremel and installed the abs plastic with black caulk(bad idea) I'm going to try and clean out the caulk and glue it in instead then wrap it in carbon fiber.

I just need to figure out where I want everything mounted (3- 52mm gauges 4- rocker switches 1 or 2 USB ports) definitely don't feel like cutting and shaping another large piece of the abs plastic to fit...still not sure what to do with the cubby hole, I already cut that piece out as well...just needs to be installed
