I do use the third row and would love to be able to have two speaker setups. 2 15L7 and two 12 pioneers. The 2 15 will be a large box and make me remove the 3rd row. I know the box will be heavy and I can live with removing it when I need to. Then when the 3rd row is in I want to have the 2 12’s for the space behind the 3rd row. So to achieve this I would need to find a permanent mount for the amp and I will be able to control the power of the output power of the amp buy changing the ohms. So I have searched and searched. I really like to have it installed on the roof but two other people that have done so have a problem with the circuit board being upside down and the vibration of the roof and also the board have caused failures and repairs. So that is out the window. I believe I have only two options. That is to create a custom fiberglass mount to hold the amp on the rear driver’s side window next to the 3rd row seats or mount on the back of the 2nd row 60/40 bench seat. If I ground the amp to the metal frame of the seat and only have to run the remote wire, power wire, RCA wires and speaker wire I think it will fit very nicely in the beauty covers that hide the automatic release and hinge system. I have searched and could not find any installs of amps on the 2nd row in a Yukon or Tahoe or escalade. So I come here to ask you guys what you think. The seat has an aluminum back and I don’t think it will have a problem with 43 pounds extra attached to the back. And my driver’s seat is moved forward and has plenty of room if I need to fold the seat up. Which I think would be very unlikely but just in case. We always use the smaller chair for people to get into the back seat.

I don't think I quite understand the question. Are you asking if it's okay to mount the amp on the back of the 2nd row seats? If so, that won't work in my truck b/c I have the automatic fold captain's chairs. I guess if you have a bench that won't move much, that will work. I had a small Kicker amp mounted to the back of the rear seats in my Honda and that worked fine. The installer built a small mount of carpet and MDF so it rests about a half inch to an inch above the seat. You have a really big amp so there's not many options. I wouldn't suggest the ceiling. If you were in a car accident and the amp went flying, that could cause a lot of injury, especially given the size of your amp. Plus, there's not a lot of good, secure places to mount on the ceiling. If you have a bench seat, have you tried mounting under the seat? One other place I thought about mounting my RF amp was on the rear quarter panel, like you mentioned. Or you could make a false floor and raise it up a little and have the amp sunken into the false floor.

Yeah the ceiling idea I'm not going to go with. Your right about all the weight. Its 48 pounds and that will take someones head off if it ever gets loose.
Or does anyone have any better diagrams of the seat assembly to see if its even possible.
My question is has anyone ever seen it in the Yukon family of trucks done.

These are the pictures that gave me the ceiling idea. Just wanted to share them.

And here is the idea of the window mount but without those subs in my case.

Another option is mounting it on the rear hatch. But the problem is that I have the automatic lift and I think it will buckle with that extra 48+ pounds.

I would avoid the rear hatch. I considered that too but I think it'll put too much stress on the lift gate actuators unless you have a manual lift gate. I think the window option in the 3rd row is your best option.

The amp that you are running is big, I know that because I have it in my Yukon Xl. I'm not to sure if yours is an XL or not but if you are only finding space for the T40001bd then it shouldn't matter. Put it on the floor behind your third row then make a false floor on top of the amp with supports (2x4) underneath and dress it up by routing a center section and put a grille on it and carpet it. This way you get air flowing throught the amp and you display it also. Also this way you still can have your space for your third row to come down when needed and you can put heavy weight on it because of the supports underneath that way it doesn't crush the amp. I'll try to go home today and put a pic of what I mean of mine. Just an idea that has worked out for me all this time and will never change it because it works for me.

That is my truck with the AMPS mounted on the rear gate. I have the automatic lift and it still works. I had to buy some custom shocks for the lift gate, change the plastic ends to metal. I still use the automatic lift with out any problems.

I love your setup. So with the new shocks that made up for the extra weight and the door actuator is just like a garage door that has little power and all the lifting comes from the shock strength? How did you determine for the replacement shocks?

No I don't have the XL and the amp on the floor behind the 3rd row is just not an option. Its 5 inches too wide from top to bottom. I will never be able to pull the lever to remove the seats.

Do you have any pictures of your setup?
