I am thinking about removing my roof rack, has anyone done this before and has any pics of what it looks like after? from what I have read you need to plug up the holes or put silicone in them so you don't get any water inside, I think it would look cleaner without them and want to take off those plastic strips that are on the roof too, thanks for the help/advice

Try the search function. Not being rude i think someone posted a how-to on this website about that. Might be on a different website. I might have seen that gmfullsize.com. I would weld in some metal in the hole and then paint it. The plastic strips im not sure how those are held on. I washed my truck yesterday and waxed the top. to me they look to be just 'glued' on with the same adhesive as the badging on the truck.

the rack will have riv-nuts that need to be shaved and the strips are glued on. better if left on.

I see, might just let the body shop do that when I get the windshield/rust issue along the top of the windshield fixed cause to do it right gotta repaint the whole roof and the roof could use a repaint anyways would be easy to do it then, was supposed to get it fixed a month or so back made an appointment at the body shop 3 weeks in advance and show up to drop it off when I was supposed to and there closed called them back and they forget to make the appointment somehow lol so gotta get some prices from some other shops cause I ain't going back there

unknown at this time.
I guess what i am trying to say is imagine for a moment holes drilled in the roof. inserts are put in that when squeezed they grip both sides of roof sheet so they won't spin. and in the center, threads for bolts in the rack.
