So it's been a while since last post, thought I would give some info that I found out today. Was driving along trying to warm up the transmission and going somewhat slow through the gears. Shifted it down to first as I was slowly coming up to a stop sign. Once it got below 5 mph is when the low idle started, all the way to stop. Shift to another gear hit the gas and stopped again, no problems. Tried shifting back down to first to try it out and same thing. Seems as if there is something transmission wise that's affecting the idle but only first gear. Any ideas?

Could you have a wire that goes to the trailer tow button that has the insulation worn? Or wiring in the steering column that is being affected by the position of the shift lever? It is a long shot.

How about wiring near the transmission that might be affected by the shift mechanism? Mice and other critters have been known to chew on that delicious wiring outside the truck.

Have you replaced the transmission mount. If not I would. Its cheap, pretty simple to do. I was shocked how much vibration and clunky shifting that mount was causing on my truck.

All the wiring in the steering column down to the transmission look good. Transmission mount has never been swapped out that I know of but looks like it's in great shape.

Not sure if you still have the rough idle, but mine was doing the low idle RPM thing - running rough at idle only after warmup. Replaced plugs, wires, no difference (regarding rough idle). But the key was that all the driver's side plugs were fouled, the passenger side wasn't. That lead me to change O2 sensors. All fixed. :)
