Rough Shifting and Shift Delays in 8-Speed on 2016 Yukon Denali

I drive a 2016 Yukon Denali with the 6.2 liter engine and the 8-speed transmission. I find that when I first start up the engine and shift into reverse, the engine revs a bit and then a few seconds later the shift to reverse actually occurs. This does not seem to occur after the engine is warm. I also notice that shifting from first to second gear is a bit rough. The rough shift occurs regardless of engine temperature. Should I be concerned? Should I take it to the dealer to be evaluated? Thanks for any suggestions.

I have a 17' Denali with the 8speed and don't have any either of the issues you mentioned. The trans shifts very smoothly even right after a cold start-up. I would take it to the dealer and get it looked at if I were you. Still under warranty so it won't cost you anything.

How many miles? Our 2015i with the 8sp started this behavior at 23k miles and the transmission was rebuilt, the stator shaft was replaced. This sold the problem. The 8 speed still acts funky at times. Has 40k miles now and no other issues.

I am awaiting a custom ordered 2018 with the 10 speed

It has about 23,000 miles. I will take it to the dealer to get it checked out.
