I have now owned a combination of 7 Tahoes, Denalis and an Escalade over the years. 3 of those were Callaway SC560s . But the one that got away was my special order 2010 Tahoe PPV. I should have never sold it. Well I traded in my 2019 AMG E63s for this 13k mile 23 Tahoe RST 6.2 Performance package and couldn't be happier. Life changes, I needed a ride that could better accommodate my service dog. I am looking at this one like a blank canvas at this point. I might send it to Callaway as I have in the past not sure just yet. I do know this truck is like the refined rebirth of my PPV from years back. I love the tight ride and it moves for a stock truck. Anyone have any ideas for a mild tune I am all ears as I have been out for a few years now.

Very nice RST and handsome companion! Where does your service dog ride?

My previous ride was a Chevy 2500 Express van with sliding side door and it was a lot more dog friendly for jumping in and out and just more space for my Labrador. He would sit in the space between the 2 front seats as there was no console. I always thought it was safer to have the dog on the floor. He loved the van as he had a lot of room to move around. That guy lived to 16 years old.

My 2024 Tahoe is pretty big but not sure of where to put the dog. Still have a Lab but this one is a female. So far she rides in the second row on the floor but barely enough room to lay down or turn around.

My black lab would ride in the second row. I got seat-gap cushions from Orvis and put one in front of the seat and one between the seats. I'd fold the one seat forward so that he could jump in at the floor level and then climb up into his seat with the cushions around it. For trips, I'd put a dog mattress on the seat and cushions and build up the cushions some so that mattress was as level and bolstered as possible. It worked out great for him.

Nice truck. I'd be nervous about adding any stress to that engine with all the issues they had though. Then again you would quickly find out if you have a good one.....

Your truck is Global B. I don;t know if its been completely unlocked yet or not but I know if you want a blower on the L84 or L87 motor, you need to buy an unlocked ECM from Whipple or Maggie. Not sure if thats still the case but you should look into it a little more.

Blackbear Performance for a mail order mild tune. You will have to do some legwork yourself but will give you a small bit of hand on experience.

If you would rather not bother, then there's a place 45 mins way from you in Rockaway on 46 east that does tuning as well. LC3 Performance. They are a little on the pricey side (about $1000) but they do a lot of high HP cars. A mild tune on your truck would be a cakewalk for them. I think they do free re-tunes for a year if you make any mods but I would ask them about that to be sure.

If he tunes out the DOD\AFM and keeps up with the oil changes, there shouldn't be any issues. I've been beating on my truck for 100K miles and I never upgraded the valve train - granted mine is the older gen, but its that same ****** spring loaded lifter design in the L83-4\L86-7 motors is pretty much the same. That's not to say it won't happen, but tuning it out it will reduce the chance it will.
