Hi, I'm new here.
My problem is I have a 97 2wd 4 door Tahoe that while on the highway at any speed if I let off the gas pedal to coast my RPMs drop to around 1000 as if I put it in neutral. For me to accelerate the RPMs have to "catch" up from 1000 to around 3000 before it kicks back in.
I've had one guy, (a backyard mechanic), tell me it is the transmission going. I haven't seen any typical signs to point in that direction like hard shifting or jumping into gear, although after it has been in drive and I stop and go to reverse it takes a second before reverse engages.
I'm really hoping this is a cheaper fix than the tranny. It is a 5.7 liter 2wd. I've checked the fluid level in the tranny.
Any help would be much appreciated.
